Community Partners
currentcare is the result of a truly community-led initiative. A diverse group of stakeholders was brought together by the Rhode Island Quality Institute and the Rhode Island Department of Health to provide the governance and direction necessary to develop and launch currentcare. Since October 2004, this coalition has been engaged in a persistent effort to ensure that the voice of the consumer, or patient, is the central focus of currentcare.
Groups participating in the development of currentcare have included:

- Hospital and Clinical Laboratories
- Leadership of Rhode Island’s community hospitals and major integrated delivery networks
- State agencies: Rhode Island Department of Health, Office of Health and Human Services, Office of the Insurance Commissioner
- Attorney General’s Health Care Advocate, State Child Advocate
- Health plans
- Consumer advocacy organizations
- Attorneys and other legal experts
- Community health centers
- Academicians and an ethicist
- Business leaders
- Professional associations and societies
